RMA Automotive South Africa will showcase its fully equipped Toyota Quantum 4×4 Mine Bus at Electra Mining Africa 2026, taking place from 7–11 September 2026 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec.

Members of the media are invited to visit RMA at its outdoor exhibit in the Red Zone, Stand P39, where they can inspect the mine-site-ready vehicle and meet RMA’s specialist engineering and vehicle-modification team.

RMA is also offering individual deskside briefings for attending media covering mining, automotive, engineering, fleet, safety, and industrial technology. Briefings can be arranged in advance or during the exhibition and tailored to journalists’ specific editorial interests.

The Toyota Quantum 4×4 Mine Bus on display has been configured as a complete personnel-transport solution for demanding mining environments. It combines full-time four-wheel-drive capability with specialist safety equipment and vehicle modifications designed to support safer, more dependable operation at mine sites.

RMA will use displays to showcase its Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty mine-site vehicles, demonstrating the company’s broader capability to engineer and deliver application-specific solutions for mining operators, contractors, and fleet customers across Africa.

Toyota Quantum 4×4 Mine Bus

The Toyota Quantum 4×4 conversion combines the passenger capacity and comfort of the established Quantum platform with the additional traction and capability required for unsealed roads, steep gradients, loose surfaces, and other difficult operating conditions.

RMA’s conversion provides full-time four-wheel-drive functionality with high- and low-range selection, controlled through OEM-style electronic switches mounted in the dashboard. The system incorporates an electronic transfer case and centre differential lock to provide improved traction and control while maintaining close integration with the vehicle’s original systems.

Increased ground clearance and improved load capability further enhance its suitability for demanding applications, including mining, civil works, remote personnel transport, tourism, education, and emergency-service support.

The vehicle displayed at Electra Mining Africa will also feature RMA’s newly developed HALO Roll-Over Protection System, together with the safety and operational equipment needed for mine-site use. The completed vehicle demonstrates RMA’s ability to supply an integrated, mine-ready transport solution rather than requiring operators to manage multiple modifications and suppliers separately.

Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty mining solutions

Alongside the Quantum 4×4 Mine Bus, RMA will showcase its Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty mine-site vehicle solutions through detailed displays at Stand P39.

The displays will illustrate how established vehicle platforms can be transformed into purpose-built operational assets through the integration of mine-site safety equipment, vehicle protection, communications systems, lighting, recovery equipment, storage, payload-management solutions, and other application-specific modifications.

RMA works with customers to understand how each vehicle will be used, where it will operate, and which regulatory, safety, and fleet requirements it must meet. This application-led approach enables the company to develop complete vehicle packages suited to different mine environments, payloads, duty cycles, and internal operating standards.

Deskside briefings for attending media

Journalists and editors attending Electra Mining Africa can arrange individual briefings with RMA Automotive South Africa’s management and technical specialists. Potential briefing topics include:

  • The development and capabilities of the Toyota Quantum 4×4 Mine Bus

  • HALO ROPS and rollover protection for mining personnel vehicles

  • Engineering mine-site vehicles for African operating conditions

  • Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty mining applications

  • Vehicle safety, payload, durability, and fleet availability

  • Integrated vehicle development and the advantages of working with a single specialist provider

  • Changing safety and operational requirements for African mining fleets

Briefings may be conducted at RMA’s outdoor stand or scheduled as deskside meetings at a convenient location during the exhibition.

Electra Mining Africa is one of the continent’s largest mining and industrial exhibitions, bringing together mining companies, original equipment manufacturers, technology providers, contractors, and industry decision-makers. The 2026 event will include more than 1,000 exhibitors, live demonstrations, technical seminars, and specialist industry programmes.

Members of the media are invited to visit RMA Automotive South Africa in the Red Zone, Stand P39, at Electra Mining Africa 2026 from 7–11 September.
