Jubilee Metals posts 29% surge in copper output as Zambia expansion gains momentum

Jubilee Metals Group has reported a sharp increase in copper production from its Zambian operations, driven by the ramp-up of the Roan concentrator and continued expansion at the Molefe mine.

The company said total saleable copper production for the nine months ended March 31, 2026 rose by 28.7% to 2,177 tonnes, compared with 1,691 tonnes in the same period last year.

The Zambia-focused metals producer said output at its Roan operations surged by 112.7% year-on-year to 1,999 tonnes of copper units during the period. This included 779 tonnes of copper units from oxide concentrate fines, a production stream introduced in August 2025.

Production at the Sable Refinery also improved, with copper cathode output rising to 957 tonnes from 751 tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

Jubilee said commissioning of its expanded copper concentrate dewatering facility at Roan was nearing completion. The company noted that the circuit was currently operating at around 75% of its targeted production rate of between 110 tonnes and 120 tonnes of contained copper per month, with full ramp-up expected during May. The facility has a design capacity of about 230 tonnes per month.

At the Molefe mine, operations continued to expand during the reporting period. Jubilee mined 250,162 tonnes of ore, with 20,064 tonnes transported to the Sable Refinery at an average copper grade of 1.84%.

The company said an accelerated stripping programme aimed at merging Pits 2 and 3 into a single open-pit mine was progressing according to plan and was expected to be completed by July 2026. More than 250,000 tonnes of pre-stripping material were removed during April alone.

Jubilee chief executive Leon Coetzer said the company was making “strong progress” in implementing its Zambia copper strategy.

“We continue to make strong progress in delivering our Zambia copper strategy, with Roan sustaining targeted production rates and the expanded concentrate circuit now entering ramp-up after minor technical and logistical delays,” Coetzer said.

He added that the expansion at Molefe and encouraging drilling results highlighted the company’s transition toward becoming a “resource-backed copper producer.”

However, Jubilee said its copper production guidance for the 2026 financial year remained under review because of delays in the commissioning of the expanded Roan circuit and adjustments to the Molefe mine plan following drilling results.

The company previously forecast annual copper production of between 4,500 tonnes and 5,100 tonnes for the year ending June 30, 2026, more than double the 2,211 tonnes produced in the previous financial year.
