The governor of the province of Tanganyika in the DRC, The Honourable Christian Kitungwa, will be in attendance at the upcoming DRC-Africa Battery Metals Forum, taking place in Kinshasa from 17â18 September.
When Governor Kitungwa officially took office as the new head of the Tanganyika provincial executive in July this year, he reiterated the need to restore peace and security in his province.
Warm welcome for new governor
âWe are honoured and privileged that the Honourable Governor Kitungwa will attend DRC-Africa Battery Metals Forum, and we look forward to warmly welcoming his delegation,â says Samukelo Madlabane, Event Director at event organisers VUKA Group.
He adds: âFor the mining industry, and indeed the burgeoning battery metals sector, to prosper, security and regulatory consistency are key requirements. We are on the cusp of historical new economic opportunities for the region, and we wish the governor and his team all the best in terms of the security, infrastructure and socio-economic challenges currently affecting the communities of Tanganyika province. A region that is so rich in natural and human resources.â
The event will also welcome the ambassadors of several of the DRCâs important trading partners, including the United States, Belgium, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The DRCâs Minister of Industry and the Development of SMEs, H.E. Louis Watum, a pioneer in the mining industry before he joined the cabinet, is also a featured speaker.
Experts and trailblazers
The high-level two-day gathering will provide valuable networking and matchmaking with senior local and international industry decision-makers. During the sessions, industry experts and trailblazers, who have successfully localised the processing of raw materials and created local manufacturing industries, will share their experiences and lessons learnt along the way. In addition, attendees can study the many opportunities within the battery manufacturing industries in the DRC and Zambia.
Industry support
Following its successful launch last year, gathering key role players in the battery manufacturing value chain from the private and public sectors, DRC-Africa Battery Metals Forum has already attracted the support of leading names in the sector with CMOC confirmed as a cobalt plus sponsor, Cominiere SA and ARSP as cobalt sponsors and Axishouse Group, Parilis Africa, River City and USAID as copper sponsors.
