For South Africa-based blasting and explosive solutions provider BME, part of the Omnia Group, the recent International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) Annual Conference on Explosives and Blasting Technique in the USA was another great showcasing and collaborative opportunity.
According to BME Managing Director Ralf Hennecke, the ISEE forum in Texas brought together global technical experts and professionals to share their learnings and technological progress.
“As a supporter of the event, we were able to once again demonstrate our commitment to the mining industry and engage with peers on various important engineering and technical aspects of blasting,” said Hennecke. “We also made a valuable contribution to the technical papers, with a presentation that was highly rated by the organisers’ panel.”
The paper, titled Encounter with Potential Acidic Sulphate Soil (PASS) and Bulk Emulsion Reaction in a South African Iron Ore Mine, was presented by BME Global Head of Blasting Sciences D. Scott Scovira, during the conference.
The strategic importance of the ISEE forum for BME was signalled by the attendance of corporate leadership including Seelan Gobalsamy, Chief Executive Officer of the Omnia Group, BME’s holding company. Omnia has been a strong driver of BME’s global expansion, and the North American region holds great promise for the group. Aaron Austin, BME General Manager Americas, noted that BME was able to highlight its growing investment in this region.
An exciting aspect of BME’s innovative capability showcased at the ISEE conference was its latest generation AXXIS Titanium electronic initiation system. This, noted Hennecke, raised considerable interest among ISEE delegates from the regional and global community.
