Glencore Coal successfully handed over a high mast light in the community of Makause, which is located in eMalahleni. This initiative is aimed at improving the safety and security within the community by lighting up the streets after dark, thereby reducing the crime rate.

The high mast light symbolizes Glencore’s commitment to the well-being of the community that it operates in. By providing adequate lighting, residents will now navigate their neighbourhoods with confidence, promoting a safer environment for all.

“We recognize the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the communities in which we operate and the installation of the high mast light in Makause reflects our dedication to supporting initiatives that contribute positively to the lives of residents.” said Khomotjo Mashiane, Community Manager at Glencore Coal.

The handover was attended by representatives from local community leaders, the eMalahleni Local Municipality representatives and residents, highlighting the power of collaboration in creating sustainable solutions for challenges within the community.
