Focused on Productivity and Lower Emissions
Michelin will unveil its integrated mining solutions at Electra Mining Africa 2026, demonstrating how combining tyres, data and services can help African mines reduce their environmental footprint while improving productivity.
From 7 to 11 September, Michelin will showcase Michelin Better Mining Solutions at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec (Stand YE05, Yellow Zone). The exhibit highlights how a total solutions approach—rather than products in isolation—helps mines extend tyre life, lower fuel consumption, and reduce downtime.
At the heart of Michelin’s exhibit will be its commitment to advancing tyre technology for large-scale mining. Michelin will highlight,new developments in 63-inch tyres designed for ultra-class haul trucks, with a focus on delivering greater durability, longer life and improved productivity to support mines in reducing operating costs and downtime.
Beyond products, Michelin will demonstrate how combining data with on-the-ground expertise can unlock further efficiency. Showcasing digital solutions that provide real-time insight into tyre performance to enable proactive decisions, alongside advisory services that help optimise mine infrastructure for better energy use. Michelin will also present its broader approach to sustainability, including initiatives to support the circular management of tyres at end of life.
These capabilities will be demonstrated through Michelin’s partnership with Anglo American Platinum at the Mogalakwena mine in Limpopo. The collaboration brings together new tyre innovations, data-driven management and dedicated support services to improve reliability and asset utilisation. The results to date reflect how an integrated approach can deliver both productivity gains and a reduced environmental footprint in a large open-pit operation.
Michelin will further highlight its integrated portfolio showcasing tyre innovations for surface mining focused on durability and fuel efficiency, solutions for underground mining engineered for safety and reliability in demanding conditions, and applications for construction and material handling. All will be supported by smart technologies designed to deliver safer and more efficient tyre performance to help operations reduce downtime and operating costs.
