Cummins will showcase its QSK60 Mining Engine at the Investing in Africa Mining Indaba 2017, from 6 to 9 February at the Cape Town International Convention Center. This is the leading mining and commodities conference on the continent.

It will be the third time that Cummins will be present at this prestigious event, notes Marketing Manager Palesa Ramodibe. “Mining is a key area in terms of our business segments,” she notes. She adds that the mining industry is still recovering from the global slump in commodity prices, which means the major players are focusing increasingly on increased return on investment.

“This is where our cost-saving and energy-efficient technology comes into its own,” Dave Rehse, Mining Director, Africa, highlights. Major benefits of the QSK60 Mining Engine are optimum performance, reliability, and versatility.

“This rugged four-cycle industrial diesel engine delivers reliable power, low emissions, and responds quickly to load changes. The high-pressure injection system and electronic controls ensure clean, powerful and efficient operation every time,” Rehse explains.

Ramodibe says Cummins’ main aim at Mining Indaba 2017 is to engage with its key mining customers. “We look forward to ongoing quality engagement as a result of the longstanding relationships we have built over the past few years.”

She adds: “There is a new understanding in the marketplace that it is no longer ‘business as usual’. As a key OEM, we are looking for different ways to collaborate with our key mining customers, so they can benefit from the cost-savings that our technology can bring to the table.”

Ramodibe says that Cummins’ ongoing success in the mining industry has largely been due to the bespoke solutions it is able to deliver to meet specific customer needs and applications. “At Mining Indaba 2017, we will focus on meaningful conversations, and getting to the heart of the issues faced by both our customers and the mining industry in general,” she concludes.
