DISA Equipment has launched the Develon DB100AS-2KM backhoe loader to the Southern African market – a robust TLB engineered for high productivity across construction, agriculture, municipal services and infrastructure development.
Part of Develon’s comprehensive earthmoving line-up, the DB100 series is built to deliver maximum performance, precise control, operator comfort and extended service life. According to DISA Equipment specialists, the new model strikes the ideal balance between loading efficiency, digging accuracy and on-road mobility in a single machine.
Engineered for Breakout Force and Traction
At its core is a 96HP Kirloskar mechanical engine, EU Stage II compliant, providing reliable power and fuel efficiency in demanding conditions.
This is matched to a responsive hydraulic system that ensures smooth operation and strong breakout force for both loader and backhoe functions.
Four-wheel drive is standard, featuring heavy-duty planetary axles front and rear. The machine is equipped with oil-immersed wet disc service and parking brakes to reduce contamination and prolong component life. A manual synchro-shift transmission is fitted as standard on the DB100AS-2KM, with a top forward travel speed of 40 km/h for quick and safe site-to-site transfers. On the performance side, the backhoe offers a digging depth of up to 4,770 mm in standard side-shift configuration, extending to 5,830 mm with the optional telescopic dipper. Maximum digging height is 5,980 mm (6,890 mm with telescopic arm), while the loader delivers a dump height of 2,960 mm and a hinge pin height of 3,610 mm.
Rated payload capacity is 2,000 kgf.Operator-Centric Design and Enhanced Safety.
The ROPS/FOPS certified cab has been designed for all-round visibility and ease of operation. Features include a one-piece curved front windscreen, large side windows, a sloped engine hood for improved view of the cutting edge, an adjustable steering column, suspension seat and ergonomically positioned controls. The parking brake is activated via an electric switch inside the cab, and optional climate control with heating, defrosting and air-conditioning is available.
A rigid, high-strength loader frame enhances durability and lifting capacity, while the optional Smooth Ride Control system minimizes bounce when traveling over rough terrain. Adjustable Flow Control optimizes power during highway travel, and pilot controls with telescopic dipper options further improve precision when working around sensitive underground services such as water mains, sewer lines and utility cables.
Safety is reinforced by an integrated safety bar and locking pin on the bucket cylinder.
Low Maintenance, High Versatility
Serviceability was a key design focus. The tilt-up hood allows full access to the engine bay, all greasing points are reachable from ground level, a sight gauge enables quick hydraulic oil checks, and a single-layer radiator system simplifies cleaning.Versatility is ensured through a wide attachment range. Loader options include general-purpose and multi-purpose buckets, pallet forks up to 1,200 kg capacity, log forks, sugarcane grabs, biomass buckets and a 600-litre concrete mixing bucket. Backhoe options include trenching and light-duty buckets and a hydraulic rock breaker compatible with oil flows of 60 to 90 l/min.
Backed by Nationwide Support
The introduction of the DB100 series addresses local demand for a durable, high-capacity TLB that combines digging depth, breakout force and travel efficiency without complex electronics. Field tests in harsh conditions have demonstrated the stability of the four-wheel steer setup and superior material retention with Smooth Ride Control.
The launch complements DISA Equipment’s existing Develon range of excavators, articulated dump trucks and wheel loaders, as well as its Everdigm hydraulic breaker range for excavators from 5 to 100 tons.
DISA supports the range with a broad branch and dealer network, offering technical advice on machine selection, genuine spare parts availability, repair and maintenance services and Develon Operator Machine Orientation training.
